Last night the Orioles beat the Nationals to win their sixth game in a row. They are now in first place in MLB but there is a lot of season to go. Currently, the Orioles and Nationals are playing in the “Beltway Series”. This is an annual series between the two clubs, the Orioles being in Baltimore and the Nationals located in Washington D.C. The Orioles have won the last five season series. Baltimore’s Mark Trumbo scored the walk-off single in the 12th for the win.
One highlight is this throw by Bryce Harper from shallow right field to catcher Matt Wieters. Major League Baseball’s Statcast clocked the throw at 99.7 MPH. While it was an amazing throw, it’s not even in the top 5 as far as velocity goes.
Aaron Hicks 105.5 4/20/16
Carlos Gomez 103.1 9/4/15
Aaron Hicks 101.9 6/12/15
Kevin Kiermaier 100.6 8/1/15
Sterling Marte 100.6 5/20/16
“That’s what stars do,” Nationals manager Dusty Baker said. “He had a good jump. He got a good ball to throw with, and he threw it on the money. He executed perfectly. That’s how you draw it up.”
