While at Notre Dame, linebacker Jaylon Smith suffered a catastrophic knee injury in the 2015 Fiesta Bowl. The block that bent Smith’s knee the wrong direction, resulted in nerve damage and at the time it was unclear if he would be able to play football again.

Smith has not played until his recent return to the practice field with the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys selected Smith 34th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. That is quite the investment in a player who may or may not return to football. Well, we will see if their gamble will pay off. Smith is slated to make his NFL debut this week against the Indianapolis Colts. If he can return to form, he will be a beast for the Cowboy’s defense.
